Title: They’re Off!They're Off!
Author: Cheryl Harness
Pages: 30
Recommended Ages: 7-10
Star Rating: ★★★★

Nothing so fully expresses the quintessential American spirit – nothing ventured, nothing gained (and why not have an adventure while you’re at it?) – like the Pony Express. Conceived by three men, the Pony Express served thousands and conveyed political, historical, and family news between the two ends of our growing nation at a crucial moment in America’s history. Not only was it practical – it was adventurous. Not only did it make separated families feel closer together – it provided an opportunity for young lads to engage in derring-do.

I’ve already reviewed The Story of the Pony Express, so I won’t go into the development of the Pony Express. Both books do a great job communicating the history of the Pony Express while also telling fun stories from the trail, but They’re Off! trumps The Story of the Pony Express in its design and artistic inclusion.

Conclusion. A great resource. Children will love it!
