Sam Brown and his father are American patriots. They work their farm together and itch for the day they will live on American-governed soil. But one night, Paul Revere rides past their house with the rousing yell, “The British are coming!” Suddenly the fight for freedom is much closer than Sam ever expected!

Discussion.

Yup, I love this one. The story is cute – Sam, a young boy, and his father dash off to fight the British at Lexington Green – but what really sealed the deal was the lovely illustrations. They have a definitely old-world feel about them and are either black and white or have a few basic colors in them. The British appear in stark red costume, but the minutemen are dressed in a drab brown. The British are large in number, but the colonials are large in spirit!

Conclusion. Get it. Your kids will enjoy it.
