I read one of the Little Bear books a few years back. Somehow it managed to be the one in which a mermaid appeared. Although I was not in the least bit interested in the mermaid, I saw the beauty of the illustrations and told myself that if I ever found a Little Bear book *without* a mermaid in it, I would buy it. So now you know the back history of my purchasing Little Bear’s Friend.
In Little Bear’s Friend, Little Bear meets a young girl named Emily who was wandering lost in the woods. They strike up an instant friendship and spend the rest of the summer having tea parties and playing together. When Emily must finally leave to go back to school, they are both very sad. But perhaps Little Bear can use Emily’s parting gift – a pen – to continue their friendship!
See that picture on the left? That’s from my amazingly-fun Instagram account. Follow it if you dare. : )
Little Bear and his parents live in a house and sometimes wear clothes. Also, Emily is able to speak with the Bears and other animals.
Conclusion. I loved both the raggedy illustrations and endearing text of Little Bear’s Friend. I will be looking out for more books from this series.
