Title: Blaze Finds the TrailBlaze Finds the Trail
Author: C. W. Anderson
Pages: 46
Recommended Ages: Beginning Readers
Star Rating: ★★★★

One day, Billy and Blaze decided that they were going to explore an old road that winds through the woods. Nobody seems to use the road anymore, and that means it must be packed with adventure!

When a storm blows in and Billy loses his way, it is up to Blaze to find their way back home. Can he prove that he is indeed the finest pony in all the world?

Discussion.

The Billy and Blaze series fills a unique gap as far as intended audience goes. It is extremely simple – a first grade reading level – but it takes its reader seriously. It isn’t goofy. It isn’t filled with cheap illustrations. Instead, it is a soberly written adventure story highlighted by lovely pencil sketches on every other page.

Conclusion. Great for beginning readers.
