Title: I, ColumbusI, Columbus
Author: Christopher Columbus
Editors: Peter & Connie Roop
Illustrator: Peter E. Hanson
Pages: 61
Recommended Ages: 8-10
Star Rating: ★★★★

I was excited when I found this book because Peter and Connie Roop are the authors of Let’s Drive, Henry Ford! and Let’s Play Soldier, George Washington! which, though they had silly illustrations, were very good sources of biographical info. However, when I started to read I, Columbus, I realized that it wasn’t a biography written by the Roops – instead it was a version of Columbus’ logbook which they had edited for children.

As such, it did not offer much information concerning Columbus himself, but rather focuses on Columbus’s first voyage to the ‘Indies’ – that is, South America.

Conclusion. Children will enjoy this introduction to the risks and perils which are encounted along with the glories of exploration.
