Title: Danger in the ExtremeHardy Boys # 152 - Danger in the Extreme
Author: Franklin W. Dixon
Pages: 151
Reading Level: 9-12
Star Rating: ★★

I’m not sure if this is a casefiles or one of the regular stories…

The Story.

Joe and Frank Hardy are both pumped up about the third annual winter Max-Games. Not only are they excited to attend the event, they also both plan to compete in the highly demanding winter activities. But they aren’t the only ones hoping to win a prize – amateurs from across the nation are participating and even the U.S. President’s son, Neal, is getting in on the action!

But it quickly becomes apparent that someone has it in for the Hardys. Are they motivated by personal hatred? Competitive fervor? Or is there a darker plot afoot?

Discussion.

I think this story claims to be from the Hardy Boys series (rather than the Casefiles), but it reads just like a Casefile – the plot is cheap, the dialogue is ultra modern, and the characters themselves are more flippant and up to date than the original characters.

Conclusion. So-so.
