In this children’s biography, Mikhail Gorbachev’s life is depicted through full-page photographs and accompanying text. Each section of his life – childhood, early political career, etc. – is treated briefly but factually.
What made this book especially marvelous to me is the fact that it was written during Reagan’s administration, while The USSR was still up and running. This is the quote that finished out the book.
When Gorbachev became the new leader of the Soviet Union, President Reagan sent a letter inviting him to visit the United States. We don’t expect to see any big changes in Soviet politics, but perhaps we, too, will find that we can “do business together.” [pg. 40]
Conclusion. Probably much more informative resources can be found, but this one wasn’t bad.
