Title: The SunThe Sun
Author: Seymour Simon
Pages: 32
Recommended Ages: 7 & up
Star Rating: ★★★★

When I was a little kid I used to look at a book called ‘The Solar System’. My, but it was marvelous. There were pages and pages piled up about each of the different planets and how far away they were from the sun…

This book would have delighted my childish soul. It’s filled with pictures of the sun, facts about its chemical makeup and atmosphere, its heat, size, and magnetic force. Wonderfully absent was the usually-pages-long explanation of how the sun came to be billions of years ago. Admittedly there is one paragraph mentioning billions of years on page 13, but the rest is concerned mostly with plain facts.

Conclusion. A great book for interested kids. Also read Earth, The Story of Apollo 11, and Project Gemini.
