Title: Animals of AustraliaAnimals of Astralia
Author: Kathryn Knight
Illustrator: Edizioni Larus
Pages: 24
Recommended Ages: 7 & up
Star Rating: ★★★★

This installment in the Nature Series focuses on the wild and wacky creatures of Down Under! From  koalas to kookaburras, wallabys, dingos, wombats, cassowaries, and more, Animals of Australia is the beginning reader’s go-to book for outrageous creatures.

Like in Snakes and Crocs, every half page to full page features a new animal along with a basic description and detailed illustration of the animal. Best of all, a small map of the Earth with the creature’s environment marked in green is provided. Here are a few facts I learned…

  • Male kangaroos sometimes balance on their tails and kickbox with one another.
  • Emus, which weigh as much as 100 pounds, can run as fast as a horse.
  • And finally, a baby echidna is called a puggle.

A PUGGLE, PEOPLE.

Conclusion. Sure to satiate the young zoologist. :)
